This seems to be becoming a recurring theme. These black and white owls have a certain formality to them which I love.
I do enjoy playing with fabrics - I feel so blessed that I have this opportunity to do it.
This blog shows my recycled denim creations, along with tutorials for items I have designed myself. I collect old jeans (a strange collection, I know!) and cut them up to make bags, purses, animals and other items of varying sizes and shapes. I then sell these to raise money for weomen and children in the town of Utange, near Mombasa, in Kenya. I help women to set up their own businesses and am supporting the building of a new school for disabled children.

Spotty owls
These came from the second pack of fabric I treated myself to at Hobbycraft. I couldn't help myself - the colours are just such fun!
Aren't they gorgeous?!

Owl phone cases - stripes
I treated myself to these fabrics on the opening of our new Hobbycraft store. While, somewhat sadly, they don't sell a lot of fat quarters, they did have some lovely themed packs. These owls come from one of those packs (I treated myself to two!).
So cute!

More owls
An ever-popular line, I seem to be constantly restocking these. I'm not really complaining, and I do enjoy choosing colours for the wings.
Photographing them in the garden was quite fun too!

Office Owls
A selection of owls around a black and white theme this time.
They look smart enough for the office, don't they?

Springtime owls
More owl phone cases, this time in Spring themed yellows and greens. I really enjoy hunting out those smallest scraps of fabric for these cases. I pride myself on never creating two identical cases; if I do repeat a fabric for the wings, then the denim will be a different shade, or the lining will be different.
These little chaps are ready to fly off to new homes during this sale season, I hope.

Owl phone cases again
Spots and lace in this lot - rather an assortment, but pleasing.
I am still surprised by the popularity of this line - but hoping it continues!
I'm not sure whether I like the wakeful owls or their sleepy friends best!
You can find the tutorial for these through my tutorial page.

Pink owls
I've been busy restocking - and busy working! - and haven't managed to blog for a while. I had a mammoth photography session yesterday, however, and can now share some of my recent creations. As you can see from the dates at the bottom of the page, my sales season will recommence next month, and I have been focusing on restocking the best selling lines. Chief among those lines is the owl phone case which was one of my first posts. You can find the tutorial here.
Pink has been a popular colour for these, so I made a batch using up various scraps. I've bought a collection of owl eye patterns, and this has saved me a considerable amount of time. It's fun playing with the different designs of eyes as well.

Flirty owls
The second set of eyes I found for my owl phone cases had the added benefit of coming with a beak! This meant that I could cut out yet another stage of applique - very welcome.
These owls are definitely feminine, I feel, and just a little flirty.

Owls with embroidered eyes
My embroidery machine has been getting a real workout recently. I have been restocking after last week's four sales - much needed. As ever, one of the most popular items has been my owl phone cases, and I sold out completely of the largest size of these. So I was due to restock - and I have to admit that the thought of all the applique involved was making me loath to start. Then I thought - there must be some patterns for embroidered eyes for sale online somewhere. Off I went, hunting on Etsy.
This was my first set of finds...
I was pleased with these. Then I found the second set of eyes.
Oh, you'll have to wait for that installment later in the week! Sorry!

Not brown owls, but blue owls....
... I'm not sure such a creature exists outside my sewn creations. However,...
Name suggestions welcomed. My feeling is that these two are definitely female!
