Drawstring bags

Remember these?

It was time to replenish stocks, so I made up another five - minus the embroidery!  They are quick to sew, especially in bulk, and came out looking great.  (I was glad I made the effort as I sold three of them at a craft fair on the very next day!)

The tutorial for these bags is here.

Pocket backpacks

These backpacks have been very popular at recent sales and are a good way of using up my current pocket glut.  They are speedy to make too - you can find a tutorial in an earlier post. I hope to print out one of the photos of the children at Casuarina House with their versions to pin up alongside the product.

Drawstring wash bags

This one is another old favourite, and another way of using up those pockets.  These vary in size - I had to sort through the pockets to find four of the same size.  I had a long length of stretch gingham check material which I was given but was struggling to use for larger bags - it was perfect for this.  You can find a tutorial for this bag very early in my blog - just use the tutorial label on the cloud at the bottom of the page.

Drawstring bags

Having made 24 of these for the children of Casuarina House as their Christmas presents, it has taken me a while to be able to face making more for sale! However, an abundance of pockets necessitated some project to use them up, and these bags are always popular. I am pleased with the results. I think these make great school bags.

Wash bags

These are a repeat of a pattern I have used before.  I used up some pockets which could be cut to 6" or 7" squares, added a strip of denim for the casing, and lined them with plastic coated fabric - sold to use as table clothes.  They make a sturdy, splash-proof wash bag which I think would make a great Christmas present filled with soaps, shower gels, etc.  I hope some of my customers will think the same!

Casuarina House bags part 1

I completed the first ten bags to send to Kenya for the children of Casuarina House' Christmas presents.  A friend from Church is going over there in ten days (jealous? Me? Just a tad) and offered to take some of them with her, so today I made a big effort and completed the first ones.  Actually, putting the bags together went really quickly, and sitting in the sunshine in the garden to tidy threads and put the drawstrings in was a really pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
So, ten down, only fourteen to go.  I have set my embroidery machine up ready for names again, and have already embroidered three more names though these still need the Casuarina House logo adding.  After I finish those, my order of 30 t-shirts arrived yesterday, ready for me to embroider the logo on!
