Dr Who?

Yes, Dr Who!
This bag was pleasing to make - I enjoyed raiding my fabrics for various shades of blue.  I made two of this style - and both have now sold, so it is a design I need to remake and to try to keep in stock, clearly,.  One of them was bought for a gift for a teacher - something of which I fully approve!

Stony Stratford Folk on the Green 2016

This is always one of my favourite events.  It is a day full of music, laughter, good company and good sales.
We arrived in good time, but setting up in the rain is never fun. Nonetheless, we got it all done in good time - but I was already very wet after the initial set up.
Fortunately our stall neighbours commented how useful a tarpaulin was in these situations - and even more fortunately my husband managed to buy one from a local hardware shop.  We blessed that tarp all day!
The rain was intersperesed with sunshine, and the temperature remained warm throughout.  The people were their usual friendly selves.
The music was good, and the food delicious.  I particularly enjoyed the strawberries and cream with the addition of meringue - strawberries and cream never tasted so good!
 The rain did fall...

and fall...
and fall....
This last shot is of a neighbouring stall, its awning weighted down by rainfall.  This after the rainwater had been twice cleared by a very lovely crew member.
Despite the rain, it was a good day with excellent sales.  We felt so sorry for the bands and the organisers, dealing with the worst of British weather.  We were not disappointed though, and fully intend to return next year.

Pocket purse with feature button

This style of pocket purse is a firm favourite at my sales, and one I have been making for quite some time now.  It is a great way to use up interesting pockets, following the shape of them to cut the fabric.  I recently bought some buttons from Hobbycraft and decided this would be a good way to feature them.
What do you think?

Perfect poodles

This is a new applique for me, and one which was fun to sew - if a little time consuming with fiddly cutaways and two different fabrics.  The finished effect is pleasing, and I am looking forward to remaking it in different colourways.

Harpenden Carnival 2016

This was such a great day, just as it was last year.
What made it great?
  • Fantastic organisation.
  • A (mostly!) sunny day.
  • Great footfall.
  • Plenty of stall space.
  • Wide variety of stalls.
  • Fabulous sales!
See you again next year, Harpenden!

Ollie

I think this must be an Ollie rather than a Lollie owl.
Definitely male, and very sure of himself! Ollie does have a soft heart, despite appearances though - he is pure cuddle material!

A bundle of backpacks

Rather than spreading them out as separate posts, here is a "group shot" of my latest backpacks.

All have different trims, and I enjoyed placing jeans pockets as well.

An African themed bag

I had fun using up some lovely animal applique patterns for this bag. I made it in three different colourways, and each side of the bag depicts different African animals.  I'm tempted to keep one for myself...

Old favourites

Elephants and giraffes have featured in my range previously, with elephants being a very popular choice throughout last year.  This year I have found a way to create the giraffes as doorstops, which I hope will be well received.  Someone did comment that they were not as heavy as the elephants; I had to point out that there was less space in a giraffe's spindly legs for the sand!

Piggies!

This is a bag which, in my opinon, you just have to smile at!

These pig are just so much fun - and it is a bag which sells very well.  Some along to a sale if you would like to own one.
