Before starting my mass production of owl phone cases (45 cut so far!) I have these three tote bags to complete. The pattern came from here and was such fun to make. The piecing took a while, though not as long as it might appear from the photos, but apart from that the bags sewed up really quickly. I went with a bound top0 on these, to link in the handle fabric with the rest of the bag. It makes a smallish tote, but I may retry the idea on a larger scale as well - I love the effect of the piecing contrast band.

That is a great way to use up scraps (of which I have too many!), I keep promising my friend I'll make her a tote, so maybe I could kill 2 birds with one stone!
ReplyDeleteI'm a very big fan of scrappy and patchwork - to me, it's fun and happy and kicky, not to mention a great way to use up scraps! Your bags are sweet - now go take a picture of what the bits and pieces for 45 owl phone cases looks like!!
