Button bags

My latest crop of bags - this time decorated with buttons.

I have a lovely collection of buttons, passed on by lots of lovely people.  Many are, I am sure, antique.  On one of my Pinterest boards I have a collection of button decoration ideas, many of which I hope to incorporate into my bags at some future point in time....

These are quite intricately pieced, but by doing five at once (I will post the fifth in a future post) I managed to speed up the construction process.  Having said that, the cutting was quite tedious!
Three of these bags have zips - I have been asked at a number of stalls whether I have zipped bags, so one project this year is to increase the number of bags I produce with zips.  I simply added the zip to the top, but for future bags I think I will add borders to the zips as I have been doing  on projects since this one.  It gives a neater finish.  However, this is adequate and will hopefully suit some future purchasers.

Doorstop number 2

This is the second design I have so far made from Wee Folk Art, and this one can be found here.
It was a delight to sew, and although my version is much less ornate than the original, I am pleased with it.  It is very tactile too - I used fleece for the applique and keep finding myself wanting to stroke it!  I am looking forward to completing more of these.

Embroidered pouch

I am really pleased with this pattern - I may have to use it again.  Not the pouch itself (I already make it in a variety of sizes) but the embroidery.  It makes me smile to see it.  I have several more patterns in the same style, and I feel a set of pouches coming on....

More pocket bags

The basic version of this was one of my first designs.  I developed it into a larger version with a gusset.  The latest development has been to add a zip.
My journey with zips has been an example of God at work. When I first made the bags to be sold for Kenya, J asked me about bags with a zip.  My response was rapid - "I don't do zips".  At that point, zips scared me.  I didn't think I would ever include them in my creations.  I said as much to J.
Just as I am now doing lots of things I thought I would never be able to do, zips now form a part of my repetoire.  I don't claim to enjoy using them - I do still find them something of a challenge.  But I am becoming more confident. And when I tell J of other things I "don't do", she often smiles at me and gently asks, "like zips?"

Aprons

These are almost a commission!  I don't normally do commissions, but someone at Church asked if I had ever thought of making aprons from old jeans.  Well, I hadn't - till then. But once the idea was in my head...
Yes, I made quite a lot of them (15 so far).  I made a variety of sizes too.  I like all of these, but this one has to be my favourite so far:
I knew there was a reason I was saving those embroidered jeans!
