Red flower bag

Another flower bag.  I love the colours of this flower, and I was pleased to find some plain red fabric in the same tone (which you can see peeping out in this photo) for the lining.

Blue Baboushka

Another version of the lovely Inspiration Mutz applique.  Of course, I used denim as the base fabric for this, and the back is entirely denim.  I stuffed them with sawdust - obtained for free from a local sawmill.  It was a messy process, but the sawdust works well.

Second batch of fabric postcards

These are a mix of patterns I already had and some from the purchased set.  I'm enjoying using the embroidery designs in such a variety of ways.

Flower bag - rail fence variation

I think this patten is formally called "Rail Fence" - or at least, it is when it is made from just three colours.
In actual fact, this bag was made from the offcuts from the striped flower bag I make.  Having pieced strips for eight bags from strips I cut from jean legs, naturally I had offcuts.  Never one to waste useable denim, I cut these to 5 1/5" squares and pieced them to make this style of bag.  I managed two bags from the offcuts - not bad!

Dog doorstops

There's been a bit of a doorstop theme going on this month.  This is partly because I managed to get hold of sawdust to fill them - the animal varieties were cut out for me at my cutting party last year, and have been sewn up for some months.

This lovely dog is from Wee Folk Art, and is one of their free patterns.  I love him - though not as much as I love the rabbit.  Sadly I seem to have had something of a disaster with the cats, and am not at all sure I am going to post them.  :-(

Fabric postcards

Many years ago I was introduced to applique, patchwork style fabric postcards.  I made a number of them, most of which were given to friends.  While doing my post-Christmas embroidery pattern hunt, I found a set of patterns for embroidered fabric postcards, so of course I had to have a go!  I love the fact that the back of the postcard is also embroidered, and am now experimenting with various of my existing embroidery designs (particularly the word blocks) to use them as postcards.  Here are my first set:

I'm hoping these will be a popular new line with my customers; to start with I am aiming for about 20 different designs with just one of each.  They do go through the post, by the way - I have tested it out!

Russian doll doorstop

The doorstops I made last year sold well, so this year I have broadened my range a little.  This beautiful design is largely made on my embroidery machine.  The pattern comes from Inspiration Mutz.  I made a few amendments with the applique, but am pleased with the result.  Choosing fabrics to use was great fun too.  I've made a few in the door stop size; there is a larger version as well which I may make, and a smaller one.
