I am determined to complete this project:
It will be a quilt made up of jean pockets. Yesterday I cut the sashing for it; I would like to sew it into one piece today and then (if I can find time to go and buy a fleece blanket for the back) I will be able to stitch the layers together at tomorrow's event (the RSPB Spring fair in Sandy, Bedfordshire). Wish me luck!
This blog shows my recycled denim creations, along with tutorials for items I have designed myself. I collect old jeans (a strange collection, I know!) and cut them up to make bags, purses, animals and other items of varying sizes and shapes. I then sell these to raise money for weomen and children in the town of Utange, near Mombasa, in Kenya. I help women to set up their own businesses and am supporting the building of a new school for disabled children.

Baby bandanas - team effort1
With many, many thanks to the lovely Ronnie and the ladies she works with, I was provided with a large stock of bandanas cut out from jeans - all I had to do was sew them up! So I now have a new supply - 35 of them, which I hope will see me through a few sales. Interestingly I have been asked for these recently. Some are lines with fleece, others with towelling. Some are velcro fastened, while others have an ingenious button-hole fastening. I'm delighted with these, and with the time saved by having them cut out for me.

Half term sewing blast!
With large (and ever-increasing!) numbers of sales getting closer and closer, I have been sewing busily to ensure the best stocks I can manage. Half term came at a very useful time for this purpose, and I have spent most of the week sewing. Here is a preview of the results...

Penguins on parade
These penguin glasses cases sold well last year, so a restock was in order. I now have owls, penguins and monsters!
Again, the eye embroidery patterns made a difference to the speed of the process.

(Look up the characteristics of Ravenclaw students if the reference escapes you!)

Humorous bibs
I have had fun collecting and using slogans for bibs. Visitors to my stalls seem to have almost as much fun examining and choosing from them! The Stinky pants one really raises smiles.

Large pocket purses
Another variation on a theme,, these purses were cut somewhat larger. I like the effect, though I think they will be more suited to a bag than in a pocket. A pocket in a pocket - now there's a thought!

More pocketed shoulder bags
These, based on a design from Sew Serenity, are a slightly deeper bag with tucks to add body.

Harry Potter - promises, promises!
A slogan I particularly appreciate for this bag.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
This bucket bag shape is delightful. I adapted it from Lisa Lam's lovely book.

Dresden plate flap bag
More versions of this little bag. Because it is a small design, I got to use up some lovely curtain fabric samples on the linings.

Boxy purses
These little unlined pocket purses have a boxed base. It gives them an attractive shape, I feel, but I have to admit that sewing through all the layers of the boxed base is very hard when there is a pocked involved as well!

Hufflepuff purse
Another Harry Potter purse, this one for Hufflepuff.
I have a soft spot for Hufflepuff. This is possibly at least partly due to the fact that both I and my younger daughter "fit" there, according to Pottermore. But really, what's not to like about that badger offering a hug?!

Tardis phone case
Here is another phone case based on a popular hero - the tardis. It sewed up well; I hope it will be popular.

Pleated purses
A totally "off the cuff" design this one; an idea I played around with and just made. I didn't even make a paper pattern, just cut straight out of the denim. It came out quite well.

Harry Potter: Ravenclaw
This is another Canstralian embroidery design, like the Hogwarts and Hufflepuff crests. It is a beautifully clear design, and I hope will be popular.

Possibly my favourite slogan
This sold on its first outing, so yet another remake to be done. It is a very popular design, and I try to keep it in stock on both purses and bags. Sadly the design is a little too large for a phone case.

Green-eyed monsters
And blue eyed, and orange eyed! These phone cases raise a smile, and sell well.
