The linings for these backpacks have been varied, from a variety of sources. This final one is lined with one of my favourite sources - curtain fabric.
I find curtain fabric usually gives the perfect weight for medium and large sized bags from denim. I don't use any lining or wadding on my bags (which would certainly be essential if I were using lighter weight fabrics) and the curtain fabric provides a uniform weight for the body - useful, when the weights of different types of denim can be so varied.
This blog shows my recycled denim creations, along with tutorials for items I have designed myself. I collect old jeans (a strange collection, I know!) and cut them up to make bags, purses, animals and other items of varying sizes and shapes. I then sell these to raise money for weomen and children in the town of Utange, near Mombasa, in Kenya. I help women to set up their own businesses and am supporting the building of a new school for disabled children.
